Concord Bros we are so back

When Sony and Firewalk Studios officially shut down Concord a month ago, many understandably assumed that the game – widely regarded as the worst of 2024 and one of the most disappointing AAA projects of all time – was gone for good, perceiving the developer's talk of "exploring options" and "determining the best path ahead" as nothing more than a typical corporate statement, meant solely to appease the few thousand people who actually bought and played the infamous "$50-$400 million flop".

As hard as it may be to believe, given the game's disastrous reception, the small hint in the announcement suggesting the FPS's return appears to have been true, and Concord has indeed been slowly crawling its way back to the market. According to the latest findings on the game's SteamDB page, Concord has been receiving backend updates daily since September 29, with the latest changelist submitted on October 8 around 2 PM UTC.

While it's impossible to determine exactly what these changes involve or what aspects of the game Firewalk is working on, it's clear that the project, though officially retired, is not entirely dead and could one day make a comeback, hopefully as a free-to-play title that will have taken into account community feedback and revamped its uninspired gameplay, boring maps, and safe art design.

Can't fix this piece of chit now. The reputation alone is going to make it bomb.

Apparently nothing. Sony learned nothing from this.

Sony should have just written it off as a loss and shit-canned all of the troons working on it so at least they wouldn't have to pay them for continuing to suck.

Two times the schadenfreude! Seriously, I hope that they suffer even more for this bullshit because the customers spoke once already.

Sounds like when they brought Morbius back to theaters.

Imagine if they brought it back and it was extremely edgy and anti-political correctness? Overhauled to be something like Redneck Rampage and Duke Nukem?

That would be great, but current Sony is pretty fucking faggy, I’m sure they’ll just make some tweaks so it’s not as in your face woke but still gay

Yea there's no way they'd de-woke a game. Their modus operandi is to hook people with a solid first game that walks the line...has some subtle progressive messaging, but reasonable enough to get on board. (IE Last of Us and the first DLC with Bill / Ellie being gay / lesbian.) Then in the second game they just destroy it entirely, defiantly even, with a tinge of spitting in the face of the people who enjoyed the first, particularly with Last of Us 2 and the crappy HBO show.

Then there are games like Days Gone, which they realized they couldn't fag up, hell the message in the game seems to be opposed to the totalitarian nature of the "woke" / neo-communist movement, particularly in the last camp. So they just cancel those franchises entirely and remake them for 4 console generations rather than make a sequel. Even though Days Gone blows away the Last of Us games in most ways. The gameplay is just infinitely more fun. LOU is a one-and-done. Days Gone I could reset enemy camps and hordes over and over and have entirely new experiences going through again.

They're full blown propagandists at this point and would rather light up a pile of money than concede how they're gay and retarded.

So, there's no way that they will make the tacit admission that their designs were awful and that contributed to the game failing. Sony will just make it free to play and waste even more money trying to re-market their faggy, Marvel-rainbow shooter.

If Sony-Japan was smart, they'd completely cut off the Californians and retake total control because the current leadership from the West would rather piss away money, time, and reputations recycling their games through ongoing deconstructions than bother to innovate and make genuinely fun games. Just compare the difference between Astro Bot's team and the entire American side of Sony's studios; one was Japanese filled with people who are passionate about making fun games, and the other are, well, propagandists.
