XD died in like a month. It's obvious from day one that its popularity was driven by paid shill content creators when it was all influencers saying "COD is back" when old school COD never had hero classes and super powers like turning invisible while playing a woman with vitiligo, and the main mode was payload escort issions like Overwatch. You could tell that anyone regurgitating those lines was an NPC without a single original thought. Doubly so when all the people that cried about SBMM in COD, went on to cry about how XD was still too sweaty.

Time to kill. Because hardcore is basically 1 shot to kill, it requires less skill because you can spray people without having to aim. It rewards slower and campier gameplay (aka phaggytime) and is usually filled with people that can't cope with the pace of the normal modes, nor the motor co-ordination to keep their aim on target for more than 0.25s. Normal promotes more aggressive and faster play, and you actually have to aim.
