I don't even watch TV anymore so I'm not exposed to this crap. Thankfully YT still has the strategy of targeted ads so my commercial breaks tend to be about technology/Christian products/fitness etc. Those ads are typically neutral for the most part or homogenous in a way I approve of.

I mean most modern media just isn't good quality anymore either, and that's on top of unnatural forced DEI shit. There is no good comedy being produced, I'm pretty sure no major networks even greenlit a new comedy pilot this last year. The only new sitcom I can think of is the spinoff of Young Sheldon which itself was a spinoff of Big Bang Theory. That universe was played out midway through the BBT run, it has to be a dead horse by now. Of the active running sitcoms I don't think there is a good one. There are a few good dramas if you look for them, and a few good movies.

It doesn't really bother me. Couldn't give a shit about what race or creed characters are so long as they are well written. Adverts are always shit and have minimal influence on what I buy.

But the funny thing I find about casting is that even people outside of chronically online circles are getting to the point where they feel as though it's a trope unto itself to have mixed race couples and such. A few years ago, someone pointing it out would have been called a racist, now people casually joke about how they expect at least one black or mixed race person in every advert you see. You just know there are casting directors out there who will look at auditions and be like "we need to make sure there's at least one X and one Y, so that we can show that we're not racial discriminators"

And like someone above said, it also works from a sales perspective. Whether or not an individual cares about representation doesn't matter. Fact of the matter is that lots of people do, and including someone that looks like them in an advert increases the potential number of customers. So companies are going to try and appeal to as many demographics as they can.

The weirdest thing for me is when you see people complaining about a lack of diversity on foreign media, not understanding that not everywhere is America. Like if you see people commenting on shit like say, Japanese anime and video games, you will see people complaining that there's not enough black inclusivity to match American demographics and it's like uwotm8?
