Why/how did Britain colonize so much?

Was it competency or sheer brutality?

Just like the Portuguese and the Spaniars colonized so much. A mixture between business skills and brutality/military superiority. Add ingenuity to the Portuguese (they invented pretty much everything used in that era).

It's fascinating to see what happened to the most powerful countries/empires through history. Rome ran shit, split into 2 empires, and now Italy has no power. At one point the sun never set on the British Empire, then they lost a handle of their colonies and ended up being USA's bitch and begging them for help in the world wars. I wonder whose bitch the USA will become in the future.

Europe was settled, so we picked off the low hanging fruit.

Nobody understood the world back then and didn't really process things the same way

Humans have tried to conquer forever, they were just good at it
