10/13: Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972)

While this movie is fun and I enjoy Vincent Price in it, I prefer the original by a pretty wide margin.

The Wicker Man 1973. I love this movie so much! Christopher Lee...I don't need to say anything more.

10/14: House II: The Second Story (1987)

I'm tempted to give this a 10 based of the title alone, its the best name for a sequel I've ever heard in my whole entire life. And just like the first House, it is a fun movie as well. I never finished it the first time I tried watching it, glad I went back to it.

Freddy vs Jason 2003. The last time I watched this was when it came out at the movies. So much fun to see it again.

Mostly just a gore fest. Not sure how they made more of these but will probably watch the 2nd one tomorrow to see if the production gets better.

Apparently the sequel is one of the longest slashers ever.

Yes...we pass out candy and watch horror movies at the same time. It's called multitasking.

I saw 'I Spit on Your Grave II' and 'Girl Next Door (2007)'. Not sure if the latter movie is really 'horror' it does very much have horror elements though.

The 3rd in the series of 4 House movies doesn't live up to the seconds as far as the title is concerned, but its another damn fun movie. Brion James is great in it and I always love Lance Henriksen.

10/16: It Came From Outer Space (1953)

From Ray Bradbury, this story offers effective paranoia along with the many silly hallmarks of sci-fi of this era.

I have the uncut 'Beginning' on DVD. I quite like that movie. I like the grindhouse feel and of course the legendary R Lee Ermey as the sadistic "Sheriff". Crazy levels of gore for those that are into that type of horror.

I guess you might call this a proto-slasher. An alright horror mystery with good atmosphere...made better by Lugosi.

                                                10/18: Hollywood Ghost Stories (1986)

This is a documentary I came across that goes over some of the hauntings that have taken place over the years in Hollywood and during the production of movies like The Exorcist. It devolved into a clip show after awhile which takes some points away.

A excellent and engaging Euro-crime/giallo dealing with grim subject matter.

I guess this film isn't considered top tier among Hammer films, but I thought the moral conflict here was interesting. Plus Christopher Lee's in it.

Very intense movie as soon as the horror kicks in. I knew how brutal and gory it was, so was not shook.

This is just like that one episode of Gilligan's Island where everyone eats mushrooms then turns into fungus people.
"Little Buddy," said the Skipper, "I ate some mushrooms and now I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so." That episode never got released for some reason.

Based on the version I saw before I would have called this a lesser Argento, but its not. Its terrific any way you cut it.

And I have to preface that these movies are surrealist nightmare films and logic, plot and reason hold little importance generally. You watch them for the atmosphere and mood (and gore) they create over plot construction. So keep that in mind if things get incoherent. Because of this his movies aren't for everybody.

Overall poor acting but the movie does feature Tony Todd and Gunnar Hansen (Leatherface) as a cool bonus.
