Most accounts here are legit. It's easy to prove a legit account. It's a bit more difficult to prove an account is not legit.

All of the "well known" accounts here are verified.

Not saying some people don't fall between the cracks, but I check on most accounts with usernames that were recognizable from the old misc. If I see multiple accounts through the same IP(or through VPNs), I know it's likely fake, and I ban them.

If I see a legit IP address, with a legit email address, it's usually good to go. I can also look up IPs and get location information, so it makes it obvious when someone is who they say they are.

We've already weeded out a few fake accounts, and we keep an eye on things.
